Which tracker do I have?

How to find your tracker's make, model and number from the unit, the box, the seller or an SMS, and then check that it works with Fleetrift.

Published

To connect a tracker you need two things: its model and its tracker number. The model tells you which setup SMS to send. The number is how the tracker is known to the system. Without it, nothing shows on the map. Both take about five minutes to find.

What you are looking for

The make and model. The make is the company on the case, such as Teltonika, Concox or Sinotrack. The model is the code after it, such as FMB120 or GT06N. Some trackers carry no maker name at all. Our list of supported trackers includes unbranded ones too.

The tracker number. On most trackers this is the IMEI, a number of 15 digits. One maker’s manual says so in as many words: the reply to its IMEI message is “an IMEI number in 15 digits”. Some trackers use a shorter number of their own. The Sinotrack ST-901 manual calls it the “Tracker ID”, and its example is 10 digits long.

Step 1: Read the tracker and its box

Turn the tracker over and look for a sticker. One tracker seller’s guide says the IMEI is printed on the label on the device, usually above the serial number. On a model that opens, it may be inside the battery compartment. The same guide says the box label carries it too.

Take a clear photo of the label with your phone. A photo cannot be lost, and you can zoom in to read the digits.

Step 2: Ask the seller

If the label is worn off, go back to the seller or the installer. The Concox manual says a warranty needs the original invoice, showing the date of purchase, the model and the serial number, and its repair record has a space for the IMEI. So ask for the invoice, and keep it with the vehicle’s papers. If it does not show the model and the number, ask the seller to write them on it.

If the tracker already reports to an app or a website, look in that account. The same seller’s guide says the IMEI is usually listed under the device details once the tracker is active.

Step 3: Ask the tracker by SMS

Some trackers will tell you their own number if you text them. Send the message from your phone to the number of the SIM card inside the tracker. It costs a normal SMS. Use only the message for your family:

  • GT06 family (Concox GT06N and its copies): send PARAM#. The reply starts with “IMEI:” and the number. The manual puts no password in this message.
  • TK103 family (Coban TK103A/B and its copies): send imei followed at once by the tracker’s password, for example imei123456. The manual’s default password is 123456, and it says the tracker replies with an IMEI of 15 digits. If you changed the password, use yours.
  • H02 family (Sinotrack ST-901 and its look-alikes): send RCONF. The reply lists the tracker’s settings, and one item is “ID”, the tracker ID.
  • Teltonika: we have found no maker document that gives an SMS for this, so read the label or the box.

What this is worth. These messages come from the makers’ manuals, as copies of them that we read on 23 October 2026. That is medium confidence. We have not tried them on a real unit. A copy sold under another name may answer to different messages. If you get no reply, go back to the label.

Step 4: Find it in the catalogue

Open Supported trackers and type the maker or the model in the search box. Your model’s page says that it works with Fleetrift. It also has the exact setup SMS for that model, ready to copy.

If your model is not there, do not give up. The next step shows whether it works.

Step 5: Test it live

On Test your tracker you type the tracker number, pick your model and point the tracker at our test address. Then you watch its messages arrive. It is free, you do not need an account, and a test lasts up to 10 minutes. If the messages come through, we can read your tracker.

Keep a note

Write down three things and keep them somewhere safe: the make and model, the tracker number, and the number of the SIM inside it. You will need all three again, for example when you change SIM or sell the vehicle.

Ready to connect it? The next guide, Set up a tracker by SMS, takes you through it.
