Lite

Lite: the simplest paid plan, for any asset

A live map, an alert when a parked vehicle moves, and the means to stop the engine when it is parked. It takes every kind of asset, cars included.

KES 250 per asset a month

Prices are in Kenya shillings, for each asset each month. A second tracker on the same asset, as a backup, costs nothing extra.

Who it is for

Lite is for people and businesses who want to see where an asset is and be warned when it should not be moving, and do not need more. It takes every kind of asset: cars, vans, bikes, tuk-tuks, boats and generators.

Two kinds of customer suit it well. The first is a person or a small business with a few everyday cars or vans, such as a family with a second car, or a shop with a delivery van, who has outgrown the 3 on Free, or whose vehicles are for the business. The second is the owner of bikes or tuk-tuks, from one to a fleet rented out to riders, or a lender that sells them on credit, who needs to know that each is where it should be.

What you get

Lite is a smaller set of features than Track, chosen for knowing where an asset is and keeping it safe. Here is each, and why it matters.

  • Live map

You see every asset on one map and on your phone, moving or parked. For most people this is the whole point of a tracker.

  • Parked alerts

You are told when an asset that is parked starts to move. It is the quickest warning of theft or of a vehicle used when it should not be, and it works without you looking at the map.

  • Stop the engine when parked

If a parked asset is being moved by someone who should not have it, you can stop its engine, and only when it is parked, so it can never be stopped on the road. This needs a tracker that is wired for it.

  • Daily remittance for bikes and tuk-tuks

A bike or tuk-tuk often earns money each day for its owner, and the rider is expected to hand over an amount daily. This helps the owner see who has paid and who is behind, whether that is one bike, a fleet out on hire or bikes sold on credit.

Still being built

Stopping the engine when parked, and daily remittance, are still being built. The live map and parked alerts are the part of Lite that works today. Ask us what is ready when you sign up.

How it works day to day

Day to day, Lite is quiet. The map shows where every asset is. You do not look at it all day. You look when you want to know, and you are told when something needs your attention, which is mainly a parked asset that moves.

A small business with vans uses the map in the morning to see that the vans left the yard, and does not need to phone each driver. A person with two cars checks the map when they are expecting a car to arrive. An owner with bikes or tuk-tuks out on hire, or a lender with bikes on credit, looks at the map for the ones that have not moved in a long time, or that are out of the area they are meant to be in.

Alerts reach you in the app, without a limit, and by email. Your SMS alerts are one pool of 50 a month for the whole account, however many assets share it. An alert that goes over that pool still appears in the app.

An example

Picture a small business with four assets

Imagine a bakery with two delivery vans, the owner's car, and a generator at the back that must not run without anyone knowing. Four assets. At KES 250 each, the plan costs KES 1,000 a month, and it shares one pool of 50 SMS alerts.

The owner uses the live map each morning to see that both vans have left. At night, the vans are parked at the yard; if one starts to move at two in the morning, she gets a parked alert on her phone. She does not need reports or history, so she does not pay for them. If she ever wants to see which van did more kilometres, she moves to Track.

A different example: a lender that finances forty bikes for riders. It puts each on Lite, watches the map, and is told when a bike that should be parked moves. Each bike is one asset at KES 250 a month, and the lender decides how to follow up with the rider.

What it costs

Lite costs KES 250 per asset a month. You pay for each asset, and a second tracker on the same asset costs nothing extra. The plan includes one pool of 50 SMS alerts a month for the whole account. Unused SMS do not carry over. Alerts in the app and by email have no limit.

Hardware is separate. Keep the tracker you already have and it costs you nothing here. If you need a new one, ask us.

When to move up or down

Moving up

Move to Track at KES 600 per asset a month when you want to look back and not only forward: history and replay, stops, reports, device health, the cash book, or a link to share the map with a customer.

Moving down

If you have 3 or fewer assets and they are your own vehicles, Free may be all you need. Tell us and we move you. Nothing is deleted, and you keep what you have.

Add-ons that suit it

These add-ons suit Lite best.

  • Lite includes 50 SMS alerts a month. A business with many assets and parked alerts at night may use more, and can buy more when it needs them.
  • Alerts to WhatsApp, counted apart from SMS, for owners whose staff read WhatsApp and not texts.
  • A segment pack, for work with its own needs, such as hire or van sales, costs between KES 200 and KES 500 per asset a month on top of Lite.
